ANSY DEROSE, IMMORTAL… (ANSY DEROSE, IMMORTEL…)

Ten years after the passage of Ansy Dérose, on November 27th, 28th and 29th, 2008 at the initiative of Yole Dérose Productions, part of his paintings was exhibited at the Hall Tancrède Auguste at the “Sugar Cane Historical Park” (Parc Historique de la Canne à Sucre), Port-au-Prince. More than 90 paintings from private collections have allowed the public to discover the amazing talents of this versatile artist.

On that occasion, was published a book dedicated to Ansy Dérose; it allows the reader to discover, through his biography and his legacy of recordings, the multiple facets of the Painter, Architect, Designer, Singer, Composer, Poet, Teacher... In the book are also included testimonies from family, friends, celebrities and unedited photographs. This is an edition that every collector must absolutely possess.

On November 29th, 2008, at the occasion of the evening Gala called "Ansy Dérose, Immortal...” (Ansy Dérose, Immortel…), Yole Dérose Productions paid glowing tribute to Ansy Dérose at the “Sugar Cane Historical Park” (Parc Historique de la Canne à Sucre), by editing a box of four CDs containing more than 65 hit songs, among which are some unpublished ones.

The select assistance, which had massively come to this spectacular event, had the opportunity to discover or to remember this man who still continues to influence all generations.

A selection of our finest musicians, storytellers, singers, dancers, designers... have successively honored the memory of Ansy Dérose during this great show which took place at the “Sugar Cane Historical Park” (Parc Historique de la Canne à Sucre), where three giant screens were set up next to a stage decorated with class and elegance.

The show began with a prophetic text of Ansy "Four Sharps, Two Becarres" (Quatre Dièses, Deux bécarres) with the incomparable voice of Daniel Marcelin, and continued with the displaying of a short film which allowed everyone to know a little better the life and work of this artist.

Through the magic of audiovisual Yole interpreted "Chante l’Oiseau" a duet with Ansy whose image was projected on the central screen, in front of an audience incredulous and delighted to see its idol perform just for this occasion, ten years later.
While applause was still greeting this moment of intense emotion, the five voices of Nadège Dugravil, Renette Désir, Sophonie Jean, Fritza Denizé and Nadine Joseph sang a capella excerpts from "Testaman", "Frè Dò", "Message", "Anakaona", "Fanm Peyi m”, “Nou vle", "Song for Haiti" and "Si Bondye” with that of Tifane’s who had joined them on stage.
These popular tunes made the assistance enthusiastic.
