MAGICAL NIGHTS AT
“THE ENCHANTED HILL”
(LA COLLINE ENCHANTÉE)

The passage to Year 2010 was done with delight for all those who had chosen to celebrate New Year’s Eve in this heaven nestled on the hillside, between sky and sea, located about 1km from the city of Marigot: “The Enchanted Hill” (La Colline Enchantée) .

On the evening of December 31st, 2009, the brightness of nature lent a hand to the lighting of the podium erected in the undergrowth of this paradise on earth. Full moon and constellation of stars so special to the nights of December have served as a dome to the underbrush transformed into a place of entertainment, decorated with lanterns, flowers and greenery.

Léa, dressed as the "Little Flower of The Enchanted Hill" opened the artistic part of this quite unusual party by proposing everyone to welcome the New Year 2010 under the banner of Love: touching and colorful moment. Then, the guests enjoyed the concert played by students and faculty of the School of Music Dessex Baptiste upon the direction of Peter and Fritz Leroy. This magnificent recital was followed by a performance of dance group "Explosion". These musicians and dancers, all living in the town of Jacmel, have been well acclaimed.

Emeline Michel, surprise guest of the evening, was warmly applauded when she came on stage to sing A capella 3 songs including "Shane" whose refrain was sung with fervor by all. Accompanied by "Jojo "a guitarist of Jacmel, she bonded with the public and added a note of lightness and cheerfulness to the evening.

However, minutes were passing inexorably and midnight was approaching. Very intense moment: thanks to a masterful sound editing done by Yole Dérose, with the voice of Clarens Renois, the assistance, still under the charm of The Enchanted Hill, saw the apparition of four beautiful young women magnificently dressed by Madeline Ledan: Ranya, Clara Luce, Florence and Kristine, each representing one element of nature. As the last notes of background music were fading, as if to initiate the birth of the Year 2010 in the celestial dome, spectacular and colorful fireworks stroke and illuminated the sky of the Southern coast of the country. Sublime instant, magical night...

It was an explosion of joy. In a festive atmosphere, the guests, invited by their hosts Michel and Michèle Géhy, walked to the reception room of The Enchanted Hill, beautifully decorated, to drink and enjoy a sumptuous buffet before dancing at various musical rhythms until a late hour of the night.

Two days later, The Enchanted Hill was once again dressed in her finery to welcome about a hundred guests invited to the magnificent “Dinner-Spectacle” offered by Dr Régine Duret. Yole Dérose, well known for her creativity and her savoir-faire, had set the tone for the evening. Daniel Marcelin, Master of Ceremonies, assisted by Léa, "Little Flower of The Enchanted Hill”, completely charmed the audience. Singer Nadège Dugravil, musicians of the “Groupe Lumane Casimir” and dancers of “Explosion”, all from Jacmel, were strongly applauded. The show ended in apotheosis with the gift promised earlier by Léa: the descent from the mountain of Woman Rainbow, announcer of happy events and the Fairy of Nature respectively represented by Kristine and Clara Luce, both beautifully dressed by Madeline Ledan.

Unexpected moment: while the notes of the accompanying music were fading, gold flakes blown by the Fairy of Nature towards the guests left them enthralled and amazed by so much beauty. The audience was then invited to a decorated area to enjoy a delicious buffet with beverages of choice. Dr Régine Duret did not miss the opportunity to especially thank Michèle Bayard Géhy and Yole Dérose for their dynamism, enthusiasm and generosity which have ensured the success of this evening in an area apparently inadequate, considering the requirements of logistics in particular. Some guests have freely expressed their satisfaction and renewed their hope in Haitian art.

Those who had the privilege to live these unique moments of magic at The Enchanted Hill came out just fascinated and “enchanted “!
