Haiti, Quisqueya, Boyo, wonderful Island, has been subject, five centuries ago, to the greed of Europeans who have robbed, tortured, massacred, looted and broken her in two, leaving two people who have long ignored and furiously despised each other and who even came to confrontation.
The time has come to defuse the animosity between these two populations. It is time for them to understand that the enmity they nourish is outdated and that they can only grow in concord and harmony.
As unbelievable as it may seem to the vast majority, Art is our last and only bulwark, our final exit to overcome, to transcend the destructive desires and material interests that divide and alienate these two populations every day. Yet, they only have one choice: that of learning to understand each other and accepting to live together.
Gala of Friendship wants to be the beginning of a series of events whose objective is to reconstruct sympathy on the whole Island; to create peaceful conditions necessary to all forms of activities that will promote an ideal climate for development and blossoming of an era of harmony between our two people. “Art, for sure, will succeed where other approaches have failed.”
