CULTURAL EVENING «AIMER HAITI»

At the end of October 2009, despite a gloomy weather recorded in all geographical departments of Haiti, a gentle, soothing breeze, sip of Love, a harbinger of hope, change and renewal, blew over our country:

A few days earlier, on October 21st, the concerted Collective Citizen Action “AIMER HAITI” conducted a seminar on the theme "Solidarity for the unity of the Haitian family” in a conference room of the Hotel Montana.

Completion of this work was held the following day, on October 22nd, with a cultural evening organized at the “Sugar Cane Historical Park” (Parc Historique de la Canne à Sucre) in the presence of an enthusiastic audience who responded with impressive numbers at the invitation of the association.

Clarens Renois, the Master of Ceremonies, first introduced with great elegance Me Guerdy Lissade who displayed a summary of the activities held the day before. Then he passed the microphone to Valery Numa responsible for the delivery of a plaque of honor to seven personalities: Ms Odette Roy Fombrun, Dr Joseph Baptiste, Daniel George, Dr Laurède Bernier, Gilberte Salomon, Mr. Anthony Pascal (Kompè Filo) and Mr Max Beauvoir. These recipients and their representatives did not hide their excitement and satisfaction for having been honored by “AIMER HAITI”.

The Master of Ceremonies then introduced to the public staff members of the Collective, and gave way to the podium to the Vice-Chairman of the group “AIMER HAITI”, Me Jean-Henry Céant, who had aptly chosen words to a rousing speech in the terms as well as in the form. With the verve and charm which characterize him, he instilled great puffs of love and hope to all, and was repeatedly interrupted by spontaneous applause from the assistance.

Then, was displayed on giant screens a short film on the theme “AIMER HAITI”; the voices, background music and images of this documentary captivated the public who could not refrain its ovations.

Suddenly, like a call to rally, the rattle of drums resounded and Azor, our artist was joined by Bruce Lee, young virtuoso of percussion. The display of such a duo managed to illustrate the link between these two generations of drummers. Next, the dancers of the “Jean-René Delsoin Company” brilliantly executed a choreography created after Eddy François’ song "Blakawout", a call to the Light.

With a trio composed of Renette Désir, Nadine Pierre and Nadège Dugravil, accompanied by talented musicians like Fabrice Rouzier on keyboard, Kéké Bélizaire on guitar, Ti Wes on drums, the public watched a sample of our best voices that performed brilliantly. Nadège Dugravil overflowing with love for her country, executed her last composition "M anvi" and was followed by Janjan Roosevelt, warm and communicative, who performed two tracks, including his hit "Agoye”. Tifane, still adored by her fans, sang "Bel Moun"and "Sekrè". Then she left the stage for Bélo joined by Sébastien Pierre who brilliantly performed "Istwa dwòl" in an inedited duet. Bélo, who had finally regained his form, did continue with his favorite song "Lakou trankil".

This was an opportunity to experience with pleasure the performance of “Example Group” (Le Groupe Exemple), composed of 5 talented storytellers from the “Sadat Group”. In a sketch acclaimed by the audience of the “Sugar Cane Historical Park” (Parc Historique de la Canne à Sucre), dressed in white simple tunics, they portrayed a virulent and satirical picture of our society and everyday life of most young Haitians. The public unanimously responded to this cry from the heart of the “Example Group” awarding to those young artists its first standing ovation of the evening. Without interruption, the dancers of the “JRD Company” interpreted "Dead end" (Impasse) amazing number warmly acclaimed. Sébastien Pierre took the microphone to perform his hit composition “Life" (La Vie) and did confirm, once again his talent revealed at the Digicel Stars competition. Everything was so embedded that the heavy clouds and droplets of rain did not even move the audience.

A few minutes later, under a sky studded with stars, it was the last part of the show where all the spotlights were focused on Emeline Michel, accompanied by the three singers and her musicians who had traveled with her. She started by singing the song of hope "Na Rive" (We’ll make it) perfectly chosen for the occasion, which generated a lot of emotion and whose refrain was echoed by the audience. Then she continued with "Fok m ale" (I’ve got to go) popular composition executed with the participation of the public.

Our Diva continued her performance by inviting the assistance to party with "L’Odeur de ma Terre"  (The Scent Of My Land) whose lyrics were reiterating her love for Haiti. Emeline, who was in a state of grace, took off her shoes to sing and dance "Ban m pase” (Get Out Of My Way). Then, accompanied by her guitarist and accomplice on stage, Dominick James, she transmitted to all the flame that makes her vibrate, and binds her to Haiti by singing "Peyi mwen cheri" (My Beloved Country) with sincere accents from the heart. On general demand, Emeline closed the show with the song “A.K.I.K.O.” to the satisfaction of the public who sang and danced with her.

In an atmosphere of general jubilation, all the artists joined Clarens Renois on the stage for the usual thanks. The Master of Ceremonies asked the assistance to recognize the imprint of a woman who has the gift of making miracles; she has created and realized the artistic part of the closing ceremony of the Collective AIMER HAITI; he cited Yole Dérose, whose incomparable touch and professionalism have been the key to the spectacular success of the evening which had taken place without any interruption.

As the spotlights of the scene were dimming out, the audience, still under the charm, extended its presence in the “Sugar Cane Historical Park” (Parc Historique de la Canne à Sucre), displaying a pleased smile, eyes filled with hope for a probable change in Haiti.
