GRAN OPENING SPECTACLE OF DELMAS MUNICIPAL PALACE (continued)
Suddeny, the lights went off, a drum roll resounded and King Henri Christophe appeared on stage, preceded by two bodyguards. They were all richly dressed in period costumes, thanks to Madeline Ledan, our stylist with creative genius. Thus the public, surprised, had the privilege to watch a live extract of the successful play of Yole Dérose Productions. “Haiti, Land of Fire”, where King Henry declaimed his rich biography and challenged the assistance on the need to work and rebuild Haiti. Those remarks galvanized the public which could not retain exclamations and comments towards the historical character, proving that the message had been well received…
Without any pause, Jean-René Delsoin Company immediately continued with “The Ball of the Flags”, another extract from “Haiti, Land of fire”; it was one key period of the evening which stimulated a sense of national pride towards each of the 12 dancers juggling with the blue and red Haitian flag on a warlike and rhythmic music.
Unfortunately, the reporters had aggressively invested the scene, armed with their cameras in order to better capture the show, worrying neither about the setting, nor about the performing artists and even less of the public which could barely see the stage. The Master of ceremony had to ask them to vacate the area to allow the show to go on, under the approving applause of the public.
